Belgian brewery Duvel Moortgat has announced the release of its 2024 collector’s edition Big Chouffe magnum, which will be available exclusively through Waitrose stores and online from 5–18 June. Timed perfectly for Father’s Day, the limited-edition 1.5L bottle is designed to be a shareable and gift-worthy option for beer lovers.

This year’s Big Chouffe bottle features original artwork by celebrated Belgian comic book artist Michel Constant. The label showcases La Chouffe’s iconic gnome mascot, Marcel, bringing a whimsical and collectible touch to the magnum’s design.

Classic Belgian blond beer in a big format

Each Big Chouffe magnum is filled with the brewery’s flagship Belgian blond beer, La Chouffe—first brewed over 40 years ago at the Chouffe Brewery. Known for its bright and spicy profile, La Chouffe opens with citrus and spice notes, followed by an aromatic hint of coriander. A subtle banana sweetness and a lingering finish round out the beer’s distinctive character.

Presented in magnum format, Big Chouffe is intended for sharing with friends and family, making it an ideal centrepiece for celebratory gatherings or special gifts. The bottle will retail at £14.

Broadening appeal beyond IPA styles

The launch of Big Chouffe complements Duvel Moortgat’s wider efforts to introduce more variety to UK shelves, catering to shifting consumer preferences away from IPA-dominated ranges. One example is the growing availability of Cherry Chouffe, a fruit-forward variant that has recently rolled out to Waitrose and Booths supermarkets.

This trend toward alternative beer styles reflects a broader appetite among consumers for bold, expressive brews that explore flavour beyond hop bitterness.

Non-alcoholic innovation also on the rise

Duvel Moortgat has also tapped into the rising demand for alcohol-free options. Last summer, the brewery launched a non-alcoholic version of La Chouffe in Asda stores. The move was driven by what the company called “a significant increase in the demand for non-alcoholic beers,” as more consumers seek flavourful choices that fit with lower-alcohol lifestyles.

With the arrival of the 2024 Big Chouffe collector’s edition, Duvel Moortgat continues to blend tradition, creativity, and innovation—delivering a beer that’s as visually striking as it is enjoyable to drink. For those looking to mark Father’s Day with something special, this magnum-sized bottle is ready to raise the bar.
