Hollywood star Brad Pitt has officially brought his latest venture—The Gardener Gin—to the UK, with Amathus Drinks named as its exclusive distributor. The gin made its UK debut this past weekend at the 2024 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with Pitt himself in attendance for the launch.

The Gardener Gin, a collaboration between Pitt, the esteemed Perrin winemaking family of France, and master distiller Tom Nichol, aims to capture the elegance and sun-soaked charm of the French Riviera in every bottle. It is now available to purchase in the UK through Amathus Drinks, both online and in its London retail stores.

A star-studded collaboration

First unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023, The Gardener Gin has been years in the making. Distilled in France, it combines local bitter orange, sweet orange, and pink grapefruit to deliver a vibrant, citrus-forward spirit.

At the heart of the project is legendary distiller Tom Nichol, known for his work with Tanqueray Nº Ten and recipient of the Gin Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. Though officially retired, Nichol has remained active in bespoke collaborations, with The Gardener Gin marking one of his most high-profile projects to date.

According to People magazine, the collaboration with Pitt and the Perrins was a two-year secret development, giving Nichol the chance to create what he called “the gin he had always dreamed of.”

Amathus Drinks secures UK exclusivity

Amathus Drinks, a major UK drinks importer, distributor, and retailer, has secured exclusive rights to distribute The Gardener Gin across the country.

“We are admirers of Tom Nichol’s work, who is such an important and influential figure in the gin business,” said Greg Kimber, head of agency spirits at Amathus. “With Pitt and Famille Perrin, he has helped create a lively and modern gin that captures the art-de-vivre of the French Riviera.”

Kimber praised the gin’s unique blend of citrus notes, highlighting its rich and balanced character driven by locally sourced ingredients.

Matthieu Perrin, co-founder of The Gardener and a fifth-generation member of Famille Perrin, said the partnership with Amathus reflects shared values. “Their commitment to excellence, diversity, and progression in the dynamic drinks sector mirrors that of Famille Perrin,” he said.

Launch with Riviera flair

The official UK launch took place during the British Grand Prix with an opulent yacht-inspired bar called “Spirit of the Riviera,” celebrating the gin’s coastal French heritage. Pitt’s presence at the event ensured significant media buzz, boosting the brand’s visibility from the outset.

The Gardener Gin joins a growing portfolio of premium beverage ventures from Pitt, who has worked with the Perrin family since 2008. The collaboration began with the purchase of Château Miraval in Provence alongside then-wife Angelina Jolie, leading to the creation of the critically acclaimed Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé in 2012 and Studio by Miraval in 2019.

Following the couple’s split, Pitt partnered with the Perrin and Péters families to launch the rosé Champagne Fleur de Miraval in 2020, which was notably served at the Oscars in 2022.

A toast to the future

With its UK arrival, The Gardener Gin is set to appeal to both spirits connoisseurs and fans of Pitt’s broader wine and drinks ventures. Its premium profile, Riviera-inspired branding, and celebrity backing make it one of the most anticipated new entries in the gin market this year.

Whether served in a classic G&T or sipped neat, The Gardener Gin offers a taste of the South of France—with a Hollywood twist.
