Round Corner Brewing has unveiled a new American Pale Ale in collaboration with global hop supplier Yakima Chief Hops (YCH), marking a celebration of Simcoe hops in all their resinous, fruit-forward glory. The 5.2% ABV release, named The Simcoe Experience, is designed to highlight every layer of the iconic hop’s character.

The Melton Mowbray-based brewery was handpicked by YCH as the UK partner for the project, which involved just three European breweries trialling the supplier’s innovative DynaBoost flowable whirlpool extract. Alongside Denmark’s To Øl and Italy’s Birrificio Lambrate, Round Corner was chosen for its track record of brewing expressive, hop-forward beers.

Brewing with DynaBoost to push Simcoe to the limit

The Simcoe Experience is built from the ground up to spotlight the hop’s bold, signature flavours. The beer’s aroma is described as a blend of greengage, ripe peach, and fresh pine, offering a full-spectrum sensory profile that fans of modern pale ales will appreciate.

To craft the beer, Simcoe T90 pellets were used mid-boil for flavour, adding a base of resinous and stone fruit notes. Then YCH’s new DynaBoost extract—formerly known as YCH 702 Trial extract—was added to the whirlpool, delivering 56 IBUs of clean bitterness. Finally, Cryo-Simcoe was used in the dry hop, pushing tropical and piney aromatics to the forefront.

Colin Paige, Round Corner Brewing’s director and co-founder, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as Yakima Chief’s UK collaboration brewery on this project. Only three breweries were selected in Europe, and we’re honoured to be in such esteemed company. This was a great opportunity to create a single-hop varietal APA that really lets Simcoe shine.”

Innovation meets tradition in hop science

YCH’s European marketing lead, Luke Kulchstein, highlighted the value of DynaBoost in modern brewing. “At YCH, we’re always pushing for the next innovation in hop science,” he explained. “DynaBoost is a 10x concentrated whirlpool extract with zero losses, giving brewers a powerful tool to dial in intense flavour and aroma without sacrificing yield.”

He added: “With such a cool new product, we knew we needed some equally cool brewing partners to help us launch it. For the UK, we went straight to Round Corner, knowing Colin and the team could craft a beer that does Simcoe justice. It’s our jewel hop—and my personal favourite.”

Cans and kegs now available

The Simcoe Experience is being released in both 30L kegs and 440ml cans. It’s available to order now via Round Corner Brewing’s webshop, with trade availability starting 22 April. For those eager to get an early taste, the beer will make its taproom debut on Friday 19 April from 5pm.

With this release, Round Corner Brewing continues to position itself as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking craft producers, combining traditional brewing excellence with cutting-edge hop technology. For hop lovers, The Simcoe Experience promises a deep dive into one of the world’s most beloved and versatile hop varieties.
